Consilience Counselling
Nicole Toner, PhD

104A Boulder Crescent Canmore, AB

With deep respect and privilege, I acknowledge that the land we gather on to heal, mapped as Canmore, Alberta in 1884 by settlers, is named “Chuwapchipchiyan Kudi Bi” in the oral practices of the Îyârhe Nakoda, the Stoney Nakoda people – comprised of the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Goodstoney First Nations. I acknowledge that this land is also located within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. I honour the enduring presence and wisdom of these Indigenous communities, whose connection to these traditional territories spans thousands of years. This acknowledgement is a starting place for further critical self-reflection on historical and ongoing settler colonialism.
